Plant Attitude

Your plants. Your information.

Privacy policy

Updated September 15, 2026

Your library stays on your device. Online photo help shares only the selected photo and the context needed for that check, with your permission.

This policy describes the current Plant Attitude beta. It will be updated before the public release if purchases or service protections change the information processed.

Who we are

Plant Attitude is developed by Adam Germain. For support, privacy questions, or a request to access, correct or delete information you have sent us, email support@adamgermain.fyi.

Your plant library

Plant names, rooms, saved photos, notes, care history and saved photo-check results are stored in the app on your device. Plant Attitude does not upload your whole library or require an app account. Device backups and files you choose to export may contain this information, depending on your own settings and where you save them.

Photo analysis

When supported Apple Intelligence is available, analysis can run on your iPhone without sending the photo to Plant Attitude’s online service.

Online analysis is optional and asks your permission. It sends the selected photo through our service, hosted by Vercel, to OpenAI to produce an answer:

The app removes embedded location metadata from the photo before sending it. It excludes plant nicknames, rooms and other plants from the structured care context. Anything visible in the photo or written in your own notes can still reveal personal information; choose what you share.

Online processing and retention

Our application server processes photo requests without saving the photos or full request bodies to a plant database. It keeps temporary request counts to manage service capacity and records limited error information when a provider request fails.

We request that OpenAI not store responses as conversation history. This does not eliminate OpenAI’s separate safety retention. Its default API abuse-monitoring logs may include submitted content and are retained for up to 30 days, with longer retention possible for legal or safety reasons. OpenAI states that API data is not used for model training by default. See OpenAI’s data controls.

Hosting and network providers may process technical information such as IP addresses, request times and errors to deliver and secure the service. Their processing can occur outside your country, including in the United States. See Vercel’s privacy policy. Provider retention is separate from the library saved on your phone.

Support messages

If you email us, we receive your email address, message and any attachments. We use them to answer your request and investigate the issue. We keep correspondence as needed to handle the request and related follow-up, or meet legal obligations. You can request deletion using the support address.

Advertising and this website

We do not sell your personal information or use it for targeted advertising. The app does not include advertising or third-party analytics SDKs. This support website has no contact form or analytics scripts added by us. Cloudflare hosts these public support pages and processes web requests to serve and protect them. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy.

Policy updates

We will update the date on this page when this policy changes. If a feature requires sharing additional information, we will explain that in the app and request permission where appropriate.
